Samuel Burgess was born on November 28, 1740, in Litchfield, Connecticut to Thomas Burgess. He married Annis Scott in Dutchess, New York. They had twelve children in 19 years. He died on February 13, 1817, in Harford, New York, having lived a long life of 76 years.
