Samuel was born in 1768 in Quaker Hill, Dutchess, New York. He was the son of Samuel Burgess and Annis Scott.[1]
He married first Sarah Wing, daughter of Elihu, (deceased) and Kezehah of Ranslow’s Patent, New York, on [27d 2m 1799] 27 Feb 1799 at Oblong, New York.[1]
On 12d 12m 1808 [12 Dec 1808], Samuel was granted a certificate to the Duanesburgh Monthly Meeting from the Oblong Monthly Meeting.[2] He was accompanied by his children Maria, Phebe, Abraham, and Elizabeth.[2]
He married second Theodosia H. Stewart, daughter of Solomon W & Abigail Stewart on 19d 3m 1810 [19 Mar 1810].[3]
