Biography

Quoting the Find-A-Grave entry cited below (reads like an obit but source is not cited): "I.H. Burgess, who settled here first in the early eighteen- eighties, died here early Thursday morning of last week after a prolonged illness. Mr. Burgess at the time of his death was 87 years old, born in New York state, May 4, 1833. He first moved here in 1884 and moved to Eau Claire, Wis. in 1887, residing there until 1902, when he again came to Minnewaukan and lived here up to the time of his death. Mr. Burgess leaves to mourn his demise, Mrs. Chas. Jacot, Mrs. Etta Kennedy, I. Derwood Burgess and Sheridan Burgess of this place, and Mrs. Earl McConly of Coville, Wash., and four daughters resideing in Eau Claire, Wis."
