Anderson was born on 24 Apr 1808 in Rowan County, North Carolina. He is the son of Thomas Burgess and Mary Hunter.
On 4 Jul 1830, in Tennessee, he married Elizabeth Whittaker. A year after they were married, the couple first moved to Franklin County, Missouri and shortly after to Warren County, Missouri[1].
Anderson and Elizabeth remained in Warren the remainder of their lives. They established a homestead and was here they had between nine and eleven children (depends on source, those needing further confirmation are: Martha Ann and Margaret). Once he retired he rented his farm out.
He passed on 22 Mar 1899 in Warren County, Missouri and is buried in the Griswold Cemetery located within the town limits of Marthasville in Warren County, Missouri. [2]
