Cecil Thomas Burgess was born in 1883, the son of Henry Burgess and Mary Giles. ^[1]

The many friends in the Rangitikei district will learn with regret of the death of Mr Cecil Thomas Burgess, son of Mr Henry Burgess, platelayer, of Greatford. The deceased passed away at the Wanganui Hospital last evening. He had been an inmate of the institution for the past five weeks, during which time he underwent two operations. The late Mr Burgess, who was a young man on the threshold of life, was well known and highly respected. We tender our condolence to the sorrowing relatives.

He is buried together with other family members at St Martin's Church, Greatford, New Zealand. ^[4]
