02JAN2022: J.B. shares a total of 46 DNA matches through 8 different children of John 'Jack' Acord on Ancestry.

Paternal relationship is confirmed by a triangulated group on FTDNA between J.B., R.B and J.O. who all share a MRCA of John 'Jack' Acord. All three share a 12cM segment on chromosome 15.

Y-DNA and the Eckart Y-DNA Project have concluded William Burgess' line is of male Acord/Eckard/Eckart descent from the Casper and Peter Eckart line's of Pennsylvania.

It was narrowed down that he was more than likely the child of one of the son's of John "Old Jack" Acord and Rachel Combs. Which one of their many sons though, was the question. The autosomal DNA evidence above answered that question.

Maternal: William Burgess is now confirmed through triangulated autosomal DNA to be a son of one of the daughters of Thomas Burgess & Wynna Caudle Key. Which daughter of theirs he is a son of is still unknown. There is little information on some of Thomas and Wynna Burgess' daughters because of the lack of documentation during the early 1800s. I'm hopeful in the future we may be able to track down more information.

DNA has been triangulated between 4 descendants of Thomas Burgess & Wynna Caudle Key.

1. W.J. is a direct descendant of Hiram Burgess, son of Thomas and Wynna Burgess. W.J. and J.B. match on chromosome 6 from location for 11 cM.

2. Eula Blankenship is a direct descendant of Tandy Burgess, son of Thomas and Wynna Burgess. Eula Blankenship and J.B. match on chromosome 6 from for 12.6 cM.

3. T.W. is a direct descendant of Tandy Burgess, son of Thomas and Wynna Burgess. T.W. and J.B. match on chromosome 6 from location for 11 cM.

This evidence proves that since all 4 people share the exact same chunk of DNA on the exact same chromosome, that they share a common ancestor. It is known that W.J., E.B., and T.W. all share the common ancestor of Thomas Burgess & Wynna Caudle Key. This concludes that J.B. is also a direct descendant of Thomas Burgess and Wynna Caudle Key.

From cemetery survey records his stone lists his birth as May 9 1832. Majority of Census records indicate he was born in May of 1830, the same year of his wife. This would also make much for sense that he had just turned 18 before he was married, not 16. His military records also coincide with birth year of 1830.

Buried in this cemetery by his daughter Sarah E. (Burgess) Mount, who was also later buried in this cemetery with her husband.

Married Mary Ann Pinkerman on July 3, 1848 in Lawrence County, Ohio.

After much research, autosomal DNA has proven William Burgess is the son of John "Jack" Acord (1796-1898).

DNA was triangulated between K.B., Burgess-4852,(descendants of William Burgess), J.O., (descendant of William Floyd Acord (Jack's son)) and R.B., (a descendant of Nicatie Cherokee Acord (Jack's daughter)).

All four descendants share the same chunk of DNA on chromosome 15 from marker position 86870303 - 91864004 for approx. 13cM.

Update: Also, autosomal DNA triangulated between Burgess-4852 (direct male descendant of William Burgess), R.B. (related through Jack Acord's daughter Nicati) and Deana (Weeks) Anderson Weeks-494 descendant of Combs-92 & Spangler-129 through son Combs-332 on Chromosome 4 from position 35067008 - 40453282 for approx. 8cM.
