Hi, I am Dorothy, a WikiTree mentor!! Are you enjoying your time on WikiTree so far?
Now that you have had a little time to try our site, there are a few more features you may find useful:
For instance, ideas on what to include in a profile can be found in Styles and Standards; including some tips on writing biographies
Also a friendly reminder about adding sources and references to your profile. Sources are critically important for genealogy and you will be helping future genealogists by listing where the information you've added came from. This page describes different kinds of sources: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Sources
I would like to research my family tree (Burgess) starting with me & going back. I know My grandfather (William & grandmother (Ellen) came from Nova Scotia. On my mother's side, her father, William O'Leary, came from county Wicklow in Ireland around 1920.
You are now a confirmed member of WikiTree! Thank you for volunteering.
Wow!!! You're the 5,468th Burgess to join Wikitree and add your family history! I'm sure your 'cousins' profiled here will benefit from you adding to Wikitree your insightful collaboration, sourced research and first-hand knowledge.
Have fun and ask for help if you need it! WikiTree members are always eager to offer guidance to a fellow genealogist.
If you need additional help, our Mentors Project is a friendly bunch of volunteers who will be glad to assist you with WikiTree-specific problems.
Feel free to look around and use the search tab to find your relatives.
WikiTree is a collaborative site for people of all experience levels.
Did you volunteer because you want to start adding your family and contribute to our shared tree? If so post another note when you're ready and we will confirm you to full member status.
If you just want to find out more about a specific person, you don't need to Volunteer. You will find the People Search under 'Find' in the menus, upper right of this page. You can also ask questions in the G2G forum. If you do decide that you would like to become a full member you will need to confirm your email address.
