Samuel Pepper was a soldier in the American Revolution. Montgomery County, Virginia military entries include: (1) Captain Mayes Company "Will and Saml. Pepper, Jr.," (2) Captain Henry Patton's Company muster roll of 24 March 1781 Samuel Pepper, An additional Virginia entry mentions Captain Benjamin Harrison's Company of Volunteers Samuel Pepper. Harrison's Company was reassigned to Colonel/General George Rogers Clark's Illinois Regiments to fight Indians in the West and attempt to retake Detroit.

(1) "George Slaughter paid #300 for forage at the Falls of Ohio to Samuel Pepper(?)" and (2) "Colonel Stephan Trigg appointed Andrew Steel to commissary for the Lincoln County militia. Named (Joseph) Lindsay, Samuel Pepper of Montgomery County. (From extract of "Papers of George Rogers Clark," #7997, roll 5, images 66-67 and #10852, roll 6, images 897-898.)

Children of Naomi Burk and Samuel Pepper were: (1). Mary Pepper, born 1 February 1765 and died 28 September 1830 Floyd Township, Putnam County, Indiana same township that James + Rebecca Morphew were living, married John Heavin (Haven?), (2) Joseph Pepper (~1769), (3) James Pepper (~1771), (4) Sarah Pepper (~1773), (5) John Pepper (~1775), (6) William Pepper 14 September 1776), (7) Jesse Pepper (~1777).
Naomi found her stepmother, Lucretia, "not pleasing", so she went to live with her sister Sarah in Bedford. There she met and married Samuel Pepper. In the spring of 1765, Samuel and Naomi moved to the New River, where they established Pepper's Ferry.

Text: (VII). Naomi Burk was born 1 February 1746 possibly near Salem on the northwest corner of today's Roanoak and died 22 December 1824. She married Samuel Pepper on 13 March, 1764 at Giles County, Virginia.
