Richard was born on 29 August 1640 in England. His father was Jonathan Burke.^[1]

Richard married Mary Parmenter on 24 June 1670 in Sudbury, Middlesex, Massachusetts Bay Colony.^{[2] [3]} They had possibly five children together.
