Marianne Burke was born on 5 February 1865 in Christchurch, Canterbury, New Zealand. Her father, Michael Burke was 53, and her mother, Maria Minchin was 25.
Her father passed away when she was only 4 years of age.
Marianne married Reverend Henry Adamson on 18 June 1890 in Halswell, Christchurch, Canterbury.
They had seven children in 14 years (one being stillborn).

Birth -
ADAMSON - May 14th at Christchurch, to wife of Rev. Henry Adamson, Lincoln, - twins, one stillborn.[1]
Three of her sons fought in the 1st World War; tragically Frank was killed in action in October 1918 at the age of 25, Michael served as a Private in the Canterbury Infantry Battalion and sadly died after being wounded in France in March 1918, at the age of 23 and Robert served as a Private in the Canterbury Infantry Battalion, surviving the war and going on to live in Christchurch, where he was a teacher until his retirement.
In 1919 her son Henry passed away after being unwell for some time with tuberculosis. He was 26 years of age. Her husband Henry passed away in 1925 at the age of 64.
Her daughter Marguerite never married, and her youngest son, Philip died while on active service in the 2nd World War, after falling from a building.
She died on 5 June 1951 in her hometown at the age of 86.
