"Tradition states that Jesse Shoemaker was the next to the youngest of twelve brothers and sisters, and that Thomas was the youngest." [1]:
1. Zedekiah (1753) m. Elizabeth Hogg. Revolutionary War Soldier. b. 1753 in Henrico County, stated in pension papers that he moved there with his family when he was about one year old to that part of Albermarle County that is now Amherst County.
2. Evan (1765) m. Elizabeth Davis.
3. Jesse (1769) m. Elizabeth Francis.
4. Thomas (1770) m. Patsey Wall
5. William (who moved to Alleghany Co, VA) m. Jane Overstreet. He sold William Sr.'s purchase on Dancing Creek, Amherst County before moving to Alleghany County, Virginia.) Changed name to German spelling, but shows up in 1850 census born in VA.
6. Hezekiah m. Lucretia Peters. Marriage docket error lists Zachariah. Hezekiah served in the War of 1812 and on his pension papers, his widow, Lucretia, states she married Hezekiah Shoemaker in Washington County, KY March 28, 1798.
7. Sarah m. James Gatewood.
8. Susanna (1763) m. William Nickuls

10. (Pvt. Jeremiah?) Zedekiah Shoemaker appears in Amherst County, VA in the 1810 census with his wife, seven sons, and three daughters, probably all minors. Living near him at the same time were William Shoemaker who married Jane Overstreet and Jeremiah Shoemaker
