Biography

Ottilia was born to to Frederic J Burkhart (1807–1894) and Margaret Otillia Burkhard (1809–1873) in Miltonsburg, Ohio.^[1] By 1850, Frederic and Margaret/Matilda had moved to the United States and were living in Malaga, Ohio with the Horn family.^[2]

She married George Wahl on 15 Dec 1864 in Malaga Township, Monroe, Ohio.^{[citation needed]} In the 1900 US Census, she reported that she and George had ten children. In 1900, eight were still living. They had been married for thirty-six years, which confirms the date of 1864 (unsourced, see above.)^[3][4][5]

Shortly after the 1910 Census, her husband George died.^[6] In 1920, she was still "Head of Household." Four of her children were still living with her.^[7] By 1930, Benjamin had taken over as Head. George, Jacob, and Barbara were all still living there, too.^[8] Ottilia died of pneumonia on 11 Nov 1931 in Malaga, Monroe, Ohio at the great age of 86 years, nine months, some days.^[1][9]
