Research Notes

In attempting to connect Isaac Burkett and George Washington Burkett as siblings, their paths have been tracked. Isaac's path looks like this:

George's path looks like this:

Map of George's Migration through Tennessee to Georgia

These images do not include what now seems to be George also living in Rhea County in 1840. His name there is spelled Burdit, but the family structure would indicate it is the George who is suspected to be the brother of Isaac. In any case, it seems that George and Isaac lived in close proximity to each other on the Tennessee/Georgia border in 1850 and 1860. In 1870, George had moved West to Rutherford, TN, and by 1880 was in Gibson county where many of his descendants remain to this day.

Probate Place: Rhea, Tennessee. Isaac Burkheart is listed on page 9 (original pages 16 and 18) of the typewritten documents as having purchased property during the estate sale of William Hodges, 1 March 1841; page 87 of typewritten transcript in April 1846 lists Isaac Burkett as a debtor of descendent Samuel Frazier. Typewritten page 171 (original 306) lists Isaac Burkett as debtor (desparate debts - probably not collectable - by this time Isaac probably does not live in Rhea County) in the estate of NG Frazier, Sept 1850.
