"Came from England about the last of the seventeenth century. Settled in New Kent county, VA, later known as Hanover county. His will was drawn up in St. Ann's Parish, Albemarle county, VA, in 1755, probated in 1756 (Will Book, p. 23-24). It mentions his wife Mary, his sons Samuel, Jr., Richard, John Peartree, Charles and daughters Elizabeth Cabell, Mary Smith, and a grandson Samuel Burks, son of Samuel Jr."

Will of Samuel Burks, 6 Oct 1755, St. Anne's Parish, Albemarle Co., Virgina. Will probated 12 Feb 1756.[2]
  I, Samuel Burks, of Saint Annes Parish, county of Albemarle, being of sound mind and memory do make and declare this to be my last will and testament. I give my son, John Peartree Burks, negro boy named Prince. To my daughter, Mary Smith, 1 negro named Lyddia. To my beloved wife, Mary Burks, durning her natural life, the use of the following slaves now belonging to me, Toby, Frank, Nan, Phillis, Tom, Simon, Flora, Bejo, Jammy, Will and Lucy as well as the use of all my houses and lands, the use of all my personal estate not already disposed of. Also to wife Mary, 200 acre tract on Cunningham Creek. After my wife's decrease the tract of land whereon I now live containing 600 acres is to be sold and money given as follows: to my daughter Elizabeth Cabell, one shilling sterling money, my son, Samuel Burks, one shilling sterling money, my son Richard Burks, one shilling sterling money; residue of said money to be equally divided between son John Peartree, Charles, daughter Mary Smith and grandson Samuel Burks, son of my son Samuel or representatives.
  Lastly, I do appoint my said wife Mary Burks and my friend John Smith, Jr., Executors of this my last will and testament. In witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 6th day of October in the year of Our Lord 1755. The will was witnessed by Samuel Hopkins, Jos. Thompson and William Moore.

John Nash purchased property in Goochland Co., VA on the Branches of the Byrd & the Branches of Deep Creek, of Lickinghole, adj. acres of Thomas Tindalls, acres of Samuel Burks I, to Waters's line (pg. 286) Aug. 21, 1734[3]

Is the middle name King found in any documents or records other than Ancestry Trees? I had never seen this middle name until Ancestry Trees began to flourish. I believe it to be an artifact of internet genealogy, and not historically authentic.
