Martin Burnell was born in Yorkshire, England.

Martin was born abt. 1708 in Wriglesworth [present day Woodlesford] in the parish of Rothwell and was baptised at Holy Trinity Church, Rothwell on 18 Sep 1708[1]. At various times he was recorded [at the baptisms of his children, etc.] as a "Carpenter (1737), Yeoman (1776/89)". He died in Feb 1776 and was buried in the churchyard of St. Michael's Church, Fewston on the 14 Feb 1776 [Bishop's transcript records 12 Feb 1776] [2][3].
