Per Findagrave page for Lafayette Burnett, he was a Confederate soldier, serving in the "10th Virginia Battalion, Company B, Heavy Artillery, Allen's Battalion." Lafayette enlisted in 1862. There is a lot of detail in the Findagrave regarding numerous children.
At least one other brother, Joseph Jr., was in the CSA. Joseph was in the 38th Virginia Infantry.
First record for Lafayette is in the 1850 census of Bedford, Virginia. The census reader misread Burnett as Bennett. Parents Joseph Burnett Sr. and wife Elizabeth are shown as born in 1806 and 1812, respectively. These children are shown in that record(with est. birth by census):
Lafayette married Ann M. Dobyns on Nov. 14, 1866 in Bedford.
