Biography

Norma P. Burns was born on 4 May 1901 at Great Falls, Cascade Co., Montana, USA.^[1][2] She appeared on the census of 14 May 1910 in the household of her parents, William O. Burns and Lilly Hart, at School Dist 29, Cascade Co., Montana.^[3]

She married Emmit Alexander Roach, son of John Roach and Sarah (Patterson) Roach, on 7 May 1919 at Cascade Co., Montana.^[1] She and Emmit Alexander Roach appeared on the census of 6 Jan. 1920 at 517 7th Ave., Great Falls, Cascade Co., Montana, USA.^[4]

She and Emmit Alexander Roach were divorced before 1926 and possibly much earlier at Montana.

Norma had a daughter also named Norma on 3 Aug. 1920. They are both in the 1930 census. Her daughter is using the the last name Rasmussen. As George and Norma were not married until 1926, and Emmit and Norma were living together in 1920. it is almost certain that Norma is the daughter of Emmit Roach.

She married George L. Rasmussen, son of Jensine A. (--?--), on 13 May 1926 at Billings, Yellowstone Co., Montana.^[5]

She and George L. Rasmussen appeared on the census of 17 April 1930 at Parkman, Sheridan Co., Wyoming. Their ages at their first marriage seems to have been adjusted to fit the ages of the children. Jack's age of 5 years is also a little surprising.^[6]

Norma died on 8 Feb. 1984 at Richland Co., Montana, at age 82^[7] and was buried at Custer National Cemetery, Crow Agency, Big Horn County, Montana.^[8] Her memorial has the dates of her birth, death and a photo of her headstone that identifies her husband, George.^[9]
