Conrad immigrated to Philadelphia, PA on 28 Sep 1753, Ship Halifax from Rotterdam, Thomas Coatman, Master with 103 German passengers. His name appears as Conrad Bornn on the passenger list. It might have actually been Born or Borner.[1]
He moved to North Carolina where he was a farmer. He fought the Cherokee in the Revolutionary War.
He was granted 300 acres on a branch of Lyles Creek on 7 July 1779 in Berks County, North Carolina.[2]
He married Hannah Frye.
He and Hannah had three sons:
Hannah ran away with Sebastian "Boston" Cline Jr. to Georgia, deserting her husband and children. Conrad Burns filed a petition on 10 Oct 1774 so stating. She had two children by Sebastian and later returned to North Carolina. A Jacob Cline was bound to John Deitz at the age of 10 years and 7 months - he used the name Burns in adulthood. Elizabeth Burns, age 7, was bound to Peter Mosteller.
Conrad died before January 1784 when his estate was probated in Lincoln County, North Carolina. Letters of Administration on the Estate of Conrad Burns, dec'd, issued to Christopher Cline and Phillip Burns who gave bond in the amount of £300 with Rudolph Conrad & David Falls, Esq., as security.[3]
He was buried in Icard, Burke County, North Carolina.[4]
