November 9
At the residence of his son, John Burris, in Butler county, O., Zechariah Burris, aged one hundred and three years. He was born in the latter part of the year 1746, in Sussex county, Del., and embraced religion and joined the Methodist Episcopal Church, in the fortieth year of his age.
Father Burris, as a Christian, was faithful and useful; and in every department of society he proved himself a faithful man of God - he was an every-day Christian. In conversing on the subject of religion he was always at home, and seemed to speak experimentally; faith and works, with him, were together. He was a consistent and worthy member of our Church, about sixty-three years. He died in great peace, giving glory to God. The writer of this preached his funeral sermon, to a respectable congregation.
