Biography

Edna Evelyn Burris was born February 13, 1897 in Gasconade County, Missouri to Josephine Rogers Burris and William (Bill) Burris. She was born in Gasconade County, Missouri. Her Grandparents were Jake Rogers and Julia Ann Hendrix Rogers. Her Great-Grandparents were Phillip S. Hendrix and Mary Druscilla Crider Hendrix.


Edna Evelyn Burris had two older brothers, Albert Frank Burris born October 31, 1893 in Gasconade County, Missouri; and George William Burris born October 19, 1895 in Gasconade County, Missouri.

On July 4, 1898, Edna Evelyn Burris's father, Bill Burris, passed away. Edna Evelyn Burris was only seventeen months old when her father passed away.

On July 20, 1898, a new baby sister came into the family, Rebecca Burris. She was born in Gasconade County, Missouri, sixteen days after her father passed away.

On July 18, 1899. Edna's mother married Gilbert Arch Lovelace.

In January 1900, Edna's baby sister, Rebecca Burris, passed away.

On February 8, 1906, Edna gained a half-sister, Ada Alemeda Lovelace.


On February 1, 1918, Edna Evelyn Burris married Slyvester Edward Rhoads on February 1, 1918 in Marshfield, Missouri. Slyvester Edward Rhoads was born on February 23, 1897 in Daviess County, Missouri. Edna Evelyn Burris and Slyvester Edward Rhoads had ten children.

Slyvester Edward Rhoads passed away on December 9, 1954 in Kansas City, Jackson County, Missouri. He is buried at the Amy Union Cemetery in Amy, Howell County, Missouri.

Edna Evelyn Burris Rhoads passed away on February 15, 1971 in Independence, Missouri. She is buried at the Amy Union Cemetery in Amy, Howell County, Missouri.
