in 1871 census, he is 11 and a student living with his family at Brook Place, Southwark. HIs sister Emma is 14 and working. His Dad is listed as a mill sawyer.
By 1881 census he is still at home with Dad George and Mum Sarah, both 60 and Goerge is till a Sawyer. Joseph is now a saw sharpener and they are at 13 Cator St in Southwark.
Joseph married Alice Brown on 13 October 1884 in All Saints, Walworth, Southwark, England.[1] By the 1891 census he is 32 and a saw sharpener in Sandover/Hanover PLace Peckahm living with wife Alice 26 and Joseph 5 and William 2.
He died December 1898 and his death certificate noted: -he was a saw sharpener -he was 40 years old -he died of valvular disease of heart and disease of other organ accelerated by excessive drinking -inquest held 27/12/1898 by the coroner for Surrey
