Harriet Burt was born on 17 July 1851 in Takaka, Nelson, New Zealand, daughter of Henry Wellington Burt (1814–1896) and Ann Brewerton (1810–1888).

Harriet (22) married James Manson (24) (born on 29 April 1849 in Hutt, Wellington, New Zealand; son of Magnus Manson and Mary Ann (Sellars) Manson) on 29 December 1873 in Wellington, New Zealand.[1] Their children were:

  2. Jemima Ethel Manson (1876 – unknown)
  3. Clara Miriam Manson (1877 – 3 September 1951)
  4. Laurence Darcy Manson (1885 – 16 November 1947)

Harriet died on 19 November 1938 in Takaka, Nelson, New Zealand, aged 87.[2] Harriet was mentioned on a memorial in East Takaka Cemetery, East Takaka, Tasman District, Tasman, New Zealand with a death date of 1938.[3]
