Biography

Daughter of Frank & Hannah Adams Burt - The first brass cannons to be made in this country were cast by her Great Grandfather, Capt. James Byers I. Her Grandfather, Capt. James Byers II had built the beautiful southern colonial mansion known as the Alexander House in Springfield (now owned by the Soc. for the Preservation of New England Antiquities). Her Uncle, Gen John K. Smith, was on the staff of General Lafayette.
