Biography

Beatrice was born in 1880. She is the daughter of Lewis Burt and Agatha Bryce. Uncle James Bryce gave her away at her wedding. Her neices, Agnes and Muriel Pritchard were her bridesmaids. Died following emergency surgery on brain abscess (tumor?) only 4 months after marriage.

DEATH OF MRS. G. BURLEY

The funeral of Mrs. Maud Burley, wife of Mr. Geo. Burley, look place yesterday, the remains being followed to the North Lismore cemetery by a large number of friends, including about 100 members of the M.U.I.O.O.F., of which deceased's husband is a member. Deceased's death was very sudden, the cause being, median-otitis (abscess on the brain), and is all the more sad in that it ls only a few months since she was married to Mr. Burley at the Scots Church, Sydney. Deceased, whose maiden name was Austin, only took bad on Thursday, and was removed to a private ward at the Lismore hospital. Everything possible was done to relieve the sufferer, but without avail, and as a last resort an operation was performed on Saturday afternoon. Although successful, the patient did not rally, and passed away during the afternoon. The deepest sympathy is expressed for Mr. Burley in his very sad bereavement.^[1]
