Jesse Burton, Jr. was a magistrate of Campbell County, Virginia for forty years. He also served for a number of years as sheriff. He was a representative in the Virginia legislature for nine terms. He and his wife had at least 7 children. He passed away on December 6, 1857 in Campbell, Virginia.[1] His obituary was published on December 30, 1857 in the Lynchburg Virginian Tri-Weekly on page 1, column 6.[2]
