Caroline "Carrie" was born in 1898. She was the daughter and firstborn child of Albert Burwell and Gertrude Minchin. She was named after her aunt Caroline Elizabeth Burwell.
She grew up with her parents and five younger siblings at Kaimata, Inglewood, Taranaki where her father was a Farmer.
Sadly her mother died in 1918 after contracting Spanish Influenza.
At the age of about 22 Carrie married 32 year old John "Jack" Gunderson in 1920. They had no children.
In 1921 her widowed father married her late mother's sister, Louisa Tempest Minchin. They had a stillborn child in 1922, and then a daughter, Constance Enid Burwell arrived on 21 April 1924.
Carrie and her husband Jack lived in New Plymouth most of their lives where her husband was a Butcher.
They later moved to the Waikato.
Her husband Jack passed away on 14 December 1967 and is buried at Hamilton Park Cemetery.
Carrie passed away on 10 October 1988 at the age of 89 and was cremated on 13 October 1988.
