He died at Enfield, February 28 1745/6,[13] or March 1, 1745/6.[14] The inscription on his gravestone reads:[13]
Here lies interred
the Body of Mr Jona
than Buſh he Fineſh
ed his Peſſabe and
Examplery life Febr.
ye 28, 1746 in the 65
year of his age.
That is, “He feneshed his Pessabel (peaceable) and exemplary life Febry. ye 28th 1746 in the 65th year of his life.”.
A deed dated 1749 (recorded in Volume 3 of Enfield land records) records a sale of land where the sellers are: Jonathan Bush, Joshua Bush, Moses Bush, Aaron Bush, Caleb Bush, Richard French jur and his wife Miriam, John French and his wife Rachel, Job Larkham and his wife Mary, and Elizabeth Bush, spinster, land at Enfield on the common right of "our grandfather Jonathan Bush decd".[15] This shows that Miriam, listed in order of eldest children, was Jonathan's oldest daughter, and born in the gap between Aaron (whose birth record itself was recorded 23 years after the fact) and Rachel.[7]
Rachel married 2 Lieutenant John Meacham.
He was a wheelwright by trade.
