Shelton is buried in Brooken Cemetery in Brooken Township, Haskell, Oklahoma, United States.

Research Notes

Shelton's grave marker shows a birth year of 1851 per his obituary. Census records are: 1860 = 1858; 1870 = 1858; 1910 = 1856.

Haskell County Tribune, Thursday, October 7, 1937

Mr. Shelton B. Bush, born in 1851, near Little Rock, Ark., died at his home at Brooken, Friday at 7:00 a.m. at the age of 86 years. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J.P. Martindale of Enterprise, at the Brooken Cemetery, Saturday morning at 10:00 o'clock. The deceased is survived by his wife and several children. Mr. Bush came to Indian Territory in the early days, he had been a resident of the Brooken community for 65 years. He was perhaps one of the best known citizens of the western part of Haskell county, and was admired by all who knew him.

Bush-4347 and Bush-3267 appear to represent the same person because: Vitals match (research notes on older profile corroborate DOB on newer profile). Both profiles cite same grave. Newer profile has existed since 2017 with same DOD and place unchanged, but just recently had the FG memorial added during Source-a-Thon 2023.
