Biography

NOTE: There is confusion as to whether Jonathan's death date is July 2 1725 or July 2 1728. Further research is needed into the matter.

Jonathan Bush. [1]

Born 17 June 1745. Connecticut, USA. [2]

Died 2 July 1828. Turin, Lewis County, New York, USA. [3]

Buried Turin, Lewis County, New York, USA. [4]

Children: Moses (1772), Jonathan (1775), Esther (1777), Mary (1779), Sibyl Shaler (1783), Polly (1787), Robert Warner (1788), Luther (1794).

Jonathan and his family lived in Enfield during the Revolutionary War and he fought in this war being a captain from this town. He apparently was one of 75 men of Enfield who answered the Lexington Alarm on April 19 1775. It seems Jonathan and Moses served together in the Revolutionary War: one index for Connecticut soldiers in the war indicates their names are to be found on the same page. A Jonathan (Sergeant) and Moses Bush (Private) from Enfield answered the Lexington Alarm (6 days in service) in 1775.

Find a Grave lists Jonathan's birth date as June 17 1745 in Chatham, CT. It's possible that the "b" before his date in the Barbour records signifies baptism instead of birth, his being baptized in his parents' church rather then the small town they lived in. His tombstone at Collinsville Cemetery lists his death date as July 3 1825. His birth and death dates have been changed to coincide with Find a Grave.

According to the Lowville Journal and Republican, a Revolutionary War marker was placed on Jonathan Bush's grave on Monday May 17, 1915. A short ceremony followed, including a "most interesting sketch of the life of Jonathan Bush" being read.

Jonathan was born in 1745. Jonathan Bush ... He passed away in 1825.[5]

Bush-3444 and Bush-2853 appear to represent the same person because: Exact dates - For names of children refer to biography of Bush-2853
Bush-4454 and Bush-2853 are not ready to be merged because: Something doesn't seem quite right. Jonathan Bush's 2 daughters have the same name - Esther - and their husbands make it clear they are not the same person. Some research is needed to see which Esther has the wrong parents here.
