OBITUARY. The death occurred at Busselton on Monday morning last of Mrs Edward Reveley Brockman, at the age of 85. Mrs. Brockman was the oldest daughter of one of the earliest settlers in Western Australia, John Garnett Bussell, who landed in Fremantle from the Warrior in 1829 with his three brothers, and subsequently settled near Busselton. Born in 1839, she married in 1863 Edward R. Brockman, and the couple settled at The Warren, at that time completely isolated. Six sons and four daughters, nine of whom are still living, were born there. Mrs. Brockman accepted cheerfully the arduous life of the pioneer, frequently in the absence of her husband, when he visited his cattle station at the coast. On one occasion she had a narrow escape from death in endeavouring to rescue from drowning a girl employed at the house, the timely aid of a native boy saving her life. On the death of her husband some sixteen years ago, Mrs. Brockman went to Busselton to reside with her daughter, Miss I. H. Brockman.
