In 1949 Donald Lines Jacobus identified the wife of Richard Smith of Wethersfield, Connecticut as Rebecca Buswell (TAG 25:126-139). Roderick Bissell Jones, "The English Ancestry of Richard Smith of Wethersfield," published in NEHGR 128:136-139, identified Richard Smith as the man baptized 16 November 1585 at Stratford-on-Avon, co. Warwick, and traced family relationships for that man. Later Dr. Gale Ion Harris cast doubt on this identification in "The Doubtful English Ancestry of Richard Smith of Wethersfield, Connecticut," NEHGR 143:240-246. Thompson's research has confirmed that Richard Smith of Wethersfield was married and had children baptized not at Stratford-on-Avon, but in Husbands Bosworth, co. Leicester, where his wife's family lived. Richard Smith's ancestry remains to be established.[1]

It appears that she was christened on April 23, 1595 on this timeline, making her three years old upon being baptized. I do not see a source that cites 1592 as her year of birth. Cross referencing at Family Search concurs that her baptism was in 1595 which also lists her year of birth as 1595 based on the custom of baptizing soon after birth. Perhaps her year of birth here is incorrect? Thank you.
I believe that husband Richard White and son John White are attached in error. It seems unlikely that Rebecca would have a son named John White in the middle of all her Smith children. I suggest that Richard White and John White be deleted from this profile for lack of documentation. Thank you.
Update: One Mary represents a daughter who died in 1625 aged five; two years later the other Mary was born. Perhaps the list of kids on this profile isn't comprehensive. There is controversy over Susanna's DOB but both represent the same person it seems.
Baswell-12 and Buswell-5 appear to represent the same person because: These two profiles appear to be for the same person even though it is being spelled differently. Please consider correcting and merging: Buswell-5 and Baswell-12 .......
Buswell-242 and Buswell-5 appear to represent the same person because: they have the same spouse, Richard Smith. Please merge Buswell-242 into Buswell-5 if you agree they are two profiles for the same person. Thank you!
Buswell-239 and Buswell-5 appear to represent the same person because: they seem to have similar information. Please compare and merge Buswell-239 into Buswell-5 if you agree they are two profiles for the same person. Thank you. Kitty Cooper-1 Smith
