Biography

Bailiss Grigsby Butcher was born at Bloomfield, Loudoun Co., Virginia, in 1790, the son of Samuel Butcher, Jr. & Hannah (Drake). He was raised in Loudoun Co., Virginia, & Randolph Co., (W.) Virginia.

He entered land on the devide of Bonakey Bun from Ford Run, on February 16, 1816

He owned lot in Beverly, Randolph Co., (W.) Virginia, in April 1818

Bayles G. Butcher married Miss Martha "Patsy" (McNeal) in Bath Co., Virginia, on August 13, 1818.

He lived at Beverly, Randolph Co., (W.) Virginia, in 1818-1819

He was postmaster @ Beverly, Randolph Co., (W.) Virginia, on February 7, 1819

Balis G. Butcher was a postmaster, merchant, & inn keeper. He died at Green Bank, Pocahontas Co., (W.) Va., on November 1, 1859, from paralysis. His death record lists his parents as Sam'l & Hannah Butcher, lists his spouse as Martha Butcher, & Oscar Butcher, son, was the death record informant.
