Biography

Ann BUTLER was born on 14 Nov 1672 in Wethersfield, Hartford Co., Connecticut, daughter of Nathaniel BUTLER and Sarah GREENE.

Per Torrey's New England Marriages Prior to 1700, pg 625, Ann BUTLER was married to Isaac RILEY on 17 Dec 1696 in Wethersfield, Hartford Co., Connecticut. It reads as follows "RILEY, Isaac (-1738) & Ann BUTLER; 17 Dec 1696; Wethersfsield, CT". [1]. This is confirmed by the Barbour Connecticut Town Vital Records for Wethersfield which reads as follows: "Isaack, mar Ann Butler, dau of Nathaniell, 17 Dec 1696, by Stephen Mix.[2], [3]

Ann was mentioned in her husband's will that was drawn up on 11 Jan 1737/38 and was probated on 20 Jan 1738 (20 Jan 1737/38 O.S.), along with their children: Sons Josiah, the eldest; Isaac Riley, 2nd son; Samuel, 3rd son; and Nathaniel Riley, 4th son, and Daughters Ann, Mary, Lucy 1st, 2nd, and 3rd daughters respectively. She and her son Samuel were named as executors to carry out his will.[4]

Note regarding birth date: Her birthdate was found in the S.A.R. record (see photo). Need access to the Barbour Town Collection series for the Town Wethersfield to verify this. There is a baptism record in Bloomfield, CT that says that Anna Butler, daughter of Nathaniel Butler, baptized on 21 Aug 1780 in Bloomfield, Hartford Co., CT. This is for a different person named Anna, not Ann, Butler (Anna belongs to the Bloomfield family, not the Wethersfield family) and should not be confused with this Ann Butler.[5]

Butler-10278 and Butler-1894 appear to represent the same person because: Both profiles link to the same FAG page.

FAG page states that she did not died 1710 because she was mentioned in will in 1737. same husband, should be merged using death of 'after 1737'
