Butler, George. (1886). Thomas Butler and his descendants. A genealogy of Thomas and Elizabeth Butler of Butler’s Hill, South Berwick, Maine, 1674-1886. New York, NY: Trow’s Printing and Bookbinding Company.

Thomas was born abt 1674 based on information that was recorded at the birth of his first child with Elizabeth Abbot Butler. His grave stone recorded that date also based on just that information, and also said Emigrant. There are many questions as to where he came from, along with documented information and documented rumor or stories. One comment made was that he arrived on his own ship with Scottish indentured servants that were set free and given land in the Berwick area. There was nothing stating that they were his indentured servants, just that he had given them their freedom.
Thomas Butler ... He passed away in 1759.[1][2]
