Biography

Mary was born in 1849. She is the daughter of Edward Butler and Mary Johnson. She passed away in 1907.

1850 - U.S. Federal Census - In 1850, Edward Butler (listed as Bulter in the Ancestry census) and his wife Mary F, were living with children John W., Robert B., Ann M., Edward B., Albert T. and Mary E. in West River, Randolph County, Indiana.[1]

1860 - U.S. Federal Census - In 1860, Edward Butler and his family are living in River Forest, Randolph County, Indiana. The family consists of his wife May [sic] F., John W., 21, Robb B., 20, Edward B., 16; Alfred B.; 13, Mary E., 12; and Marion A., one month.[2]

1900 - U.S. Federal Census - In the 1900 census, Frank C. Smith, 53, is farming on a mortgaged farm in Pymosa Township in Cass County, Iowa. Living with him is his wife, Mary E., 50, and their daughter, Jessie B., 11. Also living with the family is Mary's father, Edward Butler (indexed by Ancestry as Butter), 84.[3]
