Biography

This profile is part of the Chebacco Parish, Massachusetts One Place Study.

Mary Butler was born on 13 Feb 1723, in Ipswich, in the Province of Massachusetts Bay. She was the daughter of William Buttler, Jr., and Susana ( ______ ).[1]

Mary married Jacob Story, Jr., on 24 Jan 1739, at the Chebacco Parish Church in Ipswich.[2]

On 8 Apr 1741, Jacob Story, Jr., provided his brother-in-law, William Butler, with a formal receipt, acknowledging that he had received his wife's share of her intestate father's estate: L126 s10.[3] The final distribution from the sale of her father's real estate was only formalized on 13 Jul 1771. From it, she received an additional L34 s13 d4.[4]

Mary Butler Story died of consumption on 26 Mar 1787, in Ipswich.[5]
