Louisa Jane was born in Harrow, Middlesex. She married Francis Galton in Peterborough, Northamptonshire in 1853.[1]. In 1861 Louisa and Francis were living in Rutland Gate, All Saints, Westminster with three servants.[2]. Louisa suffered from fairly constant ill-health for which the couple regularly went abroad to Italy, Switzerland and Germany as well as to English coastal resorts. Francis himself alternated between moods of intense creativity and energy and bouts of lethargy and ill-health, which seem to have been alleviated by these constant journeys between Europe and the couple's home in Rutland Gate, Knightsbridge in London. Louisa died before her husband, passing away in 1897 in central France and her grave is in Cimetière des Carmes (Clermont-Ferrand) in France, Plot #419 (see attached image).
