1900 United States Federal Census [1]

In 1900 Mariah (Mar 1841) is Widowed, she is 59 and living alone. If she is widowed, why is her last name Byrd? is this a different person? and not the daughter of William E and Susannah Templeton Byrd??

1900 Censes Mariah widow, has no children ("0" in column 11 - mother of how many children?) and a "0" in column 12 - number of children living. So according to the 1900 Census, Mariah never had children, and may have been married for a time, she was living at home in 1860 age 18; 1870 age 26; 1880 age 38; in 1900 Census she is called Marie and she has been married to Robert C Tate for 11 yrs (1889). Mary and Robert's 2 youngest sons are living with them.

Close neighbors in 1900 were the Trents and Byrds; Byrds were Lucas, Sallie and son Walter (4yo); these Byrds are probably related to Mariah, but I don't know how yet, probably a nephew.

HUMMM! Columns 11 and 12 are still "0", so this woman has not had children.

Buried in 1920 at Thornfield Cemetery, Thornfield, Ozark Co., MO.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mariah by comparing test results with other carriers of her ancestors' mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mariah:

Thanks Maggie N for bringing this to my attention again. I sure do appreciate it! The confusion is because of a merge and no clean up. Mr. Johnson hasn't been on for a couple of years it appears, so I will work on it.

Did Mariah Byrd aka Mary Byrd marry twice or are two sisters being confused as the same person ?

Are Mariah Byrd and Mary Byrd sisters or the same person ? The reason I ask is because Marian is sometimes a nickname for Mary.
