Biography

James Henry was born in 1867 at Harrow, Victoria, Australia, the son of Jimmy and Mary Byrne.

He married Rosalie Hetta Franke in 1911 in Horsham. Rosalie was born 1890 in Nhill and was the daugher of Heinrich Wilhel Franke and Anna Hetta Hoffman.

Children of James and Rosalie

i. Avis Viola Franke/Byrne (Mrs McAlister) born 1910 in Ballaarat, and died 1969 in St Kilda. James was not her father - he and Rosalie married after Avis birth.

ii. Raymond James born on the 14th April 1914 Horsham. His occupation was butcher. He married Ethel Sutcliffe on the 20th June 1942 in Maffra. Ethel was born 11th Aug 1921 in Melbourne, the daughter of John Henry Sutcliffe and Ethel Edward. Raymond died 8th April 1981 at Box Hill () and is buried at Springvale.

iii. Mick (Keith Douglas) born in 1917. Horsham. Occupation Farmer. He married Muriel Doris Colyer in 1944 ^[1], occupation Farmer. I am told that her mother Ina nee Springs was the sister of James Henry Byrne, but have not confirmed this. Mick and Muriel lived for some time at Gymbowen, Victoria, and later moved to a Soldier's Settlement farm at Wannon Falls near Hamilton, Victoria. Mick died unexpectedly in 1958 at Fitzroy in Melbourne while attending an Anzac march. He was aged 40.

1. John Raymond b 26th Feb 1947 at Carlton, and his occupation was Clerk of Courts. He died on the 28th Feb 1965, from a car accident, in Melbourne, buried at Springvale Crematorium.

1. Douglas was born 4th Jan 1945 and his occupations was farmer. He died in 1984 age 39, at the Winton race track. He had 2 children from his marriage.

James Henry died 1930 Natimuk aged 63. At the time, Avis was 20, Raymond was 16 and Mick was 13. Rosalie died 1943 in Prahran Vic.
