There is a marriage record for Dorinda and Hiram Cain but you cannot believe the records from this source because they are supplied by researchers. Always ignore marriage records from US and International Marriage Records 1560-1900.

Although James A Cain lists his mother as Dorinda Cain (no father) on his marriage certificate I'm not for sure if he is the child of Dorinda Cain or not. He might be a child from a deceased sibling "Washington Cain" that she raised. Dorinda also raised the 4 children of her deceased sister Nancy Cain. Although the death index states she was married and a housewife that could have been false information or she may have married to someone else later on. This spouse is unknown. At least we know she's buried at Cabin Run Cemetery and her true date of death is 1897 and Doddridge Co., WV is true place of death. I'm listing Leeson's Run, Doddridge Co., WV as place of death.

As for Hiram Cain, no records at all can be located, he may be a fictional character. According to records, his sister Nancy Cain was also married to a Hiram Cain assumed to be the same man. I don't find him with the sister Nancy Cain either in any records either. I do not know the source for Hiram Cain. The only source I found his name in was from "The Descendants of Nicholas Cain 1736-1986" by Wayne R Cain & Shirley J Evan and I do not know their source.
