William was born about 1830. He passed away about 1861 due to being shot.^[1] Believed to be buried in Low Ground Cemetery Putnam county Missouri.

He was the son of James Cain and Ann Ketchin. He lived with his parents in Putnam County, Missouri. ^[2] He married Martha Jane Whitworth. Their children were:
