Biography

John was son to John and Elizabeth (Lull) Caldwell. His first marriage was to Abigail Hovey, dau. of Ebenezer and Elisabeth (Dennis) Hovey. Second marriage 13 Dec 1759: Ruth (Andrews), widow of Bemsley Wells b 26 Apr 1730 John and Abigail were admitted to communion with the South Church, March 4, 1759. Typhus fever prevailed during the years 1770-71 and Abigail and four children, John, Sylvanus, Abigail and Sarah died. He lived for forty years on Turkey Shore, opposite the Hovey homestead, the birthpalce of Abigail.
