Census Records
Harriett first appeared in the 1860 Federal census, residing with her mother and two sisters in Fort Ephraim, Sanpete, Utah.[1] Her father was a polygamist, and is recorded as the head of the previous household on the same census, with his first wife and their children.[2]
In the 1870 Federal census, Harriett, along with her two sisters and a little brother, were recorded in two separate places. They were listed in the household of their mother in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. [3] They were also listed in the household of Nathan Caldwell in Fountain Green, Sanpete, Utah.[4] Both of these census records also indicated that Harriett had attended school within the year.
