I have personal memories of Arthur and Sara Caldwell that I would be happy to share if contacted. They raised my mother for a number of years after her mother died of the 1918 flu epidemic. My mother always considered them to be her adopted family including their biological children. She related to me the fun of riding in the horse drawn carriage that Arthur used on his rural mail run and how he had one of the first cars because of his mail delivery employment.

Gary, Thank you for your additions and corrections. This is all a labor of love. Sara Flemming Caldwell and Arthur Blaney Caldwell and their children were wonderful people and stepped in to raise my mother when she lost her mother to the 1918 flu. She always considered them her closest family. Arthur was a stalwart session member of the Houston United Presbyterian Church and was instrumental in advancing my father, Harry Loyal Jones, as its youngest session member when he was barely 21. H. Lawrence, I would love to have anything you are willing to put down on paper concerning Arthur. I never knew him or his family but lived just 8 miles away in Hickory. It would be great to be able to flesh out his life. My personal email is [email address removed]

Arthur's wife Sara is my great Aunt. I did not have any futher info on Arthur. I can't see your info on ancestry as I'm not an ancestry member. Since you belong to wikitree, possibly you could add all that info up Arthur's line on wikitree. Thx Jim Aggas-24

James, Arthur's tree is: son of Nancy Reed and Samuel Smiley Caldwell; Samuel was the son of Robert Caldwell and Jane Caldwell (some records show her as jane Wallace but some of my records indicate that she and Robert were 1st cousins); Robert was the son of Robert Caldwell and Mary Wallace Stephenson; Robert was the son of William Caldwell and Jean (jane) Smiley. William was born 1705 in Ireland but I have to nail down his exact location. Both Nancy Reed's line and Samuel's line have confirmed DAR records. William died in York County, PA in 1778 after which Robert and Samuel Caldwell, their mother and other family members and spouses/children moved to Hopewell Township in Washington County. The majority of the family remained there but Robert and Jane Caldwell moved to Armstrong County in PA. The lineage information for the Caldwell line is in Wikitree.

Arthur Blaney Caldwell was my 2nd Cousin 2X removed. His father was Samuel Smiley Caldwell, Husband of Nancy Reed. Samuel Smiley Caldwell was the son of Robert Caldwell, husband of Jane Caldwell (they were first cousins). Robert Caldwell was the son of Robert Caldwell, husband of Mary Wallace Stephenson. Jane was the daughter of Samuel Caldwell, husband of Agnes Wallace. The patriarch and father to Robert and Samuel was William Caldwell, born 1705 in Ireland, came to the US and married Jane/Jean Smiley/Smylie around 1738. Your can see my tree on ancestry.com at https://www.ancestry.com/family-tree/tree/2663267/family?cfpid=-1826691221&fpid=543807899

We also have a cousin living in upstate New York from the same Robert/Jane line.
