Sarah Jane Waters married Rubin Caldwell in Winn Parish, Louisiana, where they made their home. They had two children. Iley and W.W. Caldwell. When W.W. was born, Sarah Jane and the baby died. This was in 1885, and both Sarah Jane Waters Caldwell and W.W. are buried at New Hope Cemetery in the Caldwell family plot. Rubin Caldwell was remarried to Eugenia Carroll and they reared Iley with their children. Iley grew up in Winn Parish and moved to Shreveport, Louisiana when a young man. The last contact with him was in 1928 when he visited the home of his uncle Julius E. Waters in Dodson. I ley Caldwell moved to California after that visit. His paternal cousin, Belva Caldwell Berlin of Alexandria, Louisiana was contacted. Her father, Dr. David Horace Caldwell and Rubin were brothers. BeIva has not heard from Iley in years but is of knowledge that he is deceased. It is not known where he is buried. As far as we know, Iley was not married. (Belva’s parents are buried at New Hope in the Caldwell plot.)
