Biography

William was born about 1862. He was the son of Davis Calkins and Martha Tubbs. Original profile information stated he passed away about 1900. Records suggest he didn't pass away until after 1930.

Many records suggest William's middle name and preferred name was Westley. In the 1910 census, Westley Calkins is listed in his brother Anthony's household. In the 1920 census, Westley Calkins is staying with his brother-in-law Austin Smith (his sister Flora's husband). The 1930 census shows Westley W. Calkins living alone in Corning, NY. His age in all of these records line up with his birth year.

There is also evidence that Westly had married, had at least one son, and was divorced. He is listed as divorced in the 1920 census. Edwin Calkins' marriage record in 1918 lists his father as Westly Calkins and his mother as Fannie Livingston.

Tubbs Family Genealogy has a record for "William Wesley/Westly Calkins" under his mother's entry along with six of his siblings.[1].

"6. William Wesley/Westly CALKINS b. 1862, NY, m. bef 1910, unknown. William died aft 1930."
