Biography
Nancy was born in 1794 to Joel Calkins and Bethia (Barrows) Calkins. She married (1) Alanson Russell on 1 Sep 1813 in Sharon, Litchfield, Connecticut. They had a family, including:
- Chester G. Russell (1815–1880 )
- George Hungerford Russell (1817–1888)
- Clarinda Russell (1820–1877)
- Emeline Russell (1822–1914)
Alanson died in 1838, and Nancy married (2) Timothy Doane II (1787–1847) on 18 Dec 1840 in Cleveland. After Doane's death, she married (3) William Custer or Custed on 28 Nov 1848, also in Cleveland. [citation needed] Nancy died in 1865 and was buried in Cleveland.[1][2]
Research Notes
Family records say that she was married three times, but she was buried under the name of Russell. Is this the right woman?
