Quote: “A 1705 land grant to Charles provides the information that he had married Mary Howson, the daughter of Robert Howson. When Charles returned to Mayland after Mary died, he left behind two young daughters in the care of Sarah Hewitt. Anne, the elder of the two, married Thomas Porter about 1715 and had children. Sarah married Nathaniel Jones before 1721. Her eldest son John Jones (ca. 1720-1762) sold Dr. Gustavus Brown in 1756 the share of Charles Calvert’s land that had been inherited by his mother. (3)”
