[11] Word was received her Sunday by Bishop Cameron that his uncle, Wm. Cameron, a former resident of Panguitch, had died at the home of his son, Clinton in in Los Angeles, California, and that the body would be shipped here for burial, arriving at Cedar City Tuesday. Bishop Cameron met the body and brought it here.
Funeral service were held Wednesday in the North Ward chapel with Bishop Hans P. Ipson presiding.
Dr. Reuben Joseph assisted by the choir, sang "I Know That My Redeemer Lives."
First speaker was W.J. Henderson.
The next speaker was Elder Ralph DeLong.
Resolutions of respect from the daughters of Utah Pioneers were read by Ida Chidester.
Solo, "The End of a Perfect Day," by Pearle Henrie.
Last speaker was Bishop Ipson.
Choir sang, "Oh My Father."
Benediction was pronounced by J. Frank Houston.
Benj. Cameron dedicated the grave.
Those from out of town attending the funeral were: Mrs. Rhoda Fullmer and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Cameron of Rexburg, Idaho; Mrs. Martha Adams of Delta; Clinton Cameron of Los Angeles; Miss. Audria Cameron of Los Angeles; Miss. Georgiana Cameron of Ogden; Mrs. Riley Norton, Mr. Stringham and Mirt Norton of Provo; Benj. Cameron of Cedar City, and Miss Audria Cameron of Los Angeles.
Internment was in the family lot in the city cemetery.
Wm. Cameron was the son of Wm. and Jane Filnt Cameron and was born in Provo, April 14, 1852. He moved with his parents to Dixie and from there to Panguitch were he resided until 1906 when he moved to Parker, Idaho, later moving back to Provo, Benjamin, Salt Lake City and Ogden where he made his home. He has only been to California since August.
December 10, 1882 he married Georgiana Sevy of Panguitch. Five children were born to them and in 1892 his wife died in childbirth. In 1895 he married Luella Bunker, who died in Benjamin a few years ago. Seven children were born to this union, three of whom survive now, also two of his first wife's. They are: Mrs. Rhoda Fullmer, of Rexburg, Idaho; Mrs. Martha Adams of Delta; Miss Georgiana Adams of Ogden and Clinton Cameron of Los Angeles; and Glen Cameron of Rexburg.
He was an active civic and religious worker while living in Panguitch, was a High Priest and a Seventy, and together with his brother-in-law, built the Cameron and Sevy Mercantile business, which is now known as the Southern Utah Equitable, selling his interest in the store when he moved away from her. He was a farmer and cattleman, and was a prominent citizen of the town in early days.
