CAMERON On August 17, at his residence, Craig Gowan, Narracoorte, Angus, dearly beloved husband of Isabella Cameron. Aged70 years.[3]
Mr. Angus Cameron.
One of the pioneer residents of the Naracoorte district, Mr. Angus Cameron, died on Tuesday, at the age of 70 years. He was a native of Inverness-shire, Scotland, came to Australia in 1853, and settled near Narracoorte with his parents. He has had a striking career. He first started at shepherding, and was horsebreaking with the late Adam Lindsay Gordon. He was engaged in droving, managed Richmond Park Station for a time, was in charge of the hostelry now known as the Commercial Hotel, followed butchering and horsedealing, and devoted a part of his life to farming and grazing. In the early days he took a keen interest in racing and coursing. Among his string of racehorses were Black Harry and Flying Cloud. He was a first class judge of horseflesh, and in days gone by fulfilled the duties of judge at most of the south-eastern shows. He has left a widow, five sons, and three daughters.[4]
